What is Flow Chart and What are the Commonly Used Symbols to Build a Flowchart?

A flowchart depicts the individual steps of a process in a logical order. It is a generic tool that may be used for a wide range of purposes and can be used to describe a number of processes, including manufacturing, administrative and service processes, and project plans. One of the seven core quality tools, it’s a frequent process analysis tool.

A sequence of events, materials or services entering or exiting the process (inputs and outputs), decisions that must be made, individuals who get involved, time involved at each stage, and/or process metrics are all examples of elements that can be included in a flowchart.
